PwC Australia has recently released a 2023 Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Trends Report where over 60 per cent of people are basing their purchasing behaviours on 2 key criterias (sustainability and ethical criteria), and this continues to grow exponentially annually. They’re also committed to investing in more ethically and sustainable materials and products.
Other key findings that came from the report consisted of:
- In a recent internet sweep of 250 Australian businesses, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) identified that 57 per cent of businesses were guilty of Greenwashing
- Consumers have a greater claim to launch claims where required
- Key Stakeholders have an accountability to ensure that that they are aware of their ESG obligations
The report has really encouraged many Australian Businesses to be driving higher standards around their ESG Goals and being more transparent on their overall performance
